My first stop was the observation deck at the 89th floor. In just under a minute, the high-speed elevator whisked me to the top — my ears popped, my heart raced, and the view? It’s beautiful during the day, but if you catch the golden hour, the sunset glow makes everything magical.

After taking in the view, I headed down to the B1 level for lunch at Din Tai Fung — yes, the very same world-famous dumpling house with a Michelin star. No matter how many times I eat their xiao long bao, I’m amazed by the thin skin, juicy filling, and that perfect savory bite. I also ordered stir-fried water spinach and their classic hot and sour soup. Whether you’re with friends or dining solo like me, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.

Post-lunch was shopping time. While strolling through the mall, I discovered a tea boutique called Geow Yong Tea (嶢陽). Their gift sets of Taiwanese tea are absolutely gorgeous — minimalist packaging, delicate blends like Dong Ding Oolong and Oriental Beauty, and a refined feel that makes them perfect as souvenirs. Whether for friends back home or just as a reminder of this journey, it felt like a piece of Taiwan in a box.

To wrap up my Taipei 101 experience, I walked over to a nearby department store — A11, just next to Taipei 101 — to visit POP MART, the ultimate spot for collectible toys and adorable figures. It’s a favorite among locals, and I totally get why. From colorful displays to the thrill of mystery blind boxes, it’s like tapping into your inner child. I ended up with a mini Molly figure — such a fun little treasure to take home!
